This book is about machine learning, how the different ML techniques work and how they might be combined to generate a master learner, the Master Algorithm. The book aims, with some success, to demystify the AI black box without venturing into the mathematics to any great extent. The author is optimistic about the possibilities arising from machine learning, putting him at the AI-is-not-a-risk-to-humanity end of the spectrum. He speculates on what one might do with the Master Algorithm. If it were given all data about you, it could become a virtual you but with the advantage that it could then act as the most superb personal assistant. He concludes that the point at which machine learning via the Master Algorithm overtakes natural learning is a phase transition, not a singularity. As such, he looks forward to it as the next step in human development as we co-evolve with our creations.
