A fascinating but doom-laden account of our future.

Harari is a no-holds-barred materialist. With a few simple premises, he explains how intelligent robots will probably wipe us out. The title of the book could instead be Homo Titan since it was the gods, the children of Titans, who defeated their creators. So shall the robots deal with us. Harari urges us to examine how we treat the animal kingdom as a guide to how inferior we shall be to robots. It will not be personal. It’ll be just the way they are. He notes that intelligence is decoupling from consciousness. Intelligent robots, without consciousness, will soar above humans. Their drives, ineluctably logical as they will be, will perceive humans to be irrelevant.
