A crystal clear exposition of why free will is an illusion.

This is a great book. It is short and it is spot on. Our unconscious mind does almost all the work with respect to our thoughts and the choice of our actions. We do not possess free will. What then if someone commits a crime? Does this mean that we cannot punish criminals because it is not their fault? Harris’s answer is that they are still guilty and they should be put away for the purposes of deterrence and rehabilitation. But just because we rightly punish them does not mean that we should hate or despise them. They were simply unlucky (genes, upbringing, etc.).
