About the event:
Robots are doing a larger and larger share of our work. They are no longer confined to laboratories and factories, but are entering our homes and public spaces. This has been made possible by the steady improvement of their capabilities over more than sixty years.
It is timely to ask whether the technical cleverness of robotic machines will enable them to become sentient: Can robots experience feelings and sensations? Can robots feel pain? Do they need our protection? Or are we the ones to be protected?
