Could this be the precursor to artificial general intelligence?
The trouble about machine learning today is that it is basically statistics. That does not mean to say that it cannot do amazing things. Take GPT-3, the natural language programme. But you can also fool it; it cannot exercise common sense. That is because it cannot see the obvious stuff, which we humans take for granted. What if that background knowledge that we have can be programmed into the machine first? Researchers at DeepMind are working on just that challenge right now. This is not the only such project, albeit that it is taking a different approach to it. Sooner or later, artificial general intelligence will get cracked.
