Who remembers Deep Blue?
Kasparov’s book is readable and worth reading. It is partly about putting the record straight, partly about the workings of Deep Blue and partly musing on the nexus of man and machine. In a period when machine learning has become fashionable, the book reminds us of an older AI technique (tree search), even if it was highly enhanced, as it was in Deep Blue.
