Bigger is better after all.
In short, people with bigger, faster neurons have higher IQs, think faster and memorise more. These are the results of a recent piece of research comparing the neurons of 35 different people. The researchers were able to test the IQs of each of them just prior to brain surgery. During the latter, they were then able to harvest minute samples of temporal lobe tissue. It’s not just the fact that the neurons are bigger. Said neurons have more dendrites too. The findings may be controversial. They should not be – something has to account for the fact that some people are brighter than others.
