An all-round introduction to the massive topic of behaviour.

The book provides an in-depth and wide-ranging analysis of behaviour. The first third focuses largely on the tangible causes of behaviour. These include the emotion circuits, neurotransmitters, hormones, cognition, decision-making and genes. They also include the impact of nurture, i.e., child-rearing. The book then expands its scope. It takes in culture, evolutionary biology, ethics, empathy, war and the justice system. As such, the book is a one-stop compendium of writing on behaviour. It is accessible but lengthy, a heavy-weight introduction to the subject.
