AI can now marry climate change policy proposals with human interaction.
Researchers have made great progress in writing programs to forecast climate change. Those same models can then underpin policy proposals to try to mitigate said climate change. All too often, though, such proposals run up against roadblocks from other parties. Then, it’s back to square one. What if AI could run all the different possible negotiations between the affected parties at huge speeds so as to pre-empt the stop-start process we have seen to date? A new research effort anchored by AI for Global Climate Cooperation has achieved exactly that. This is the sort of capability advanced AI will offer in an increasingly complex world. Check out Felicity in my new book: The sentient robot: the last two hurdles in the race to build artificial superintelligence.
