Robotics design is advancing rapidly.
The car manufacturing industry has been using robots for years. Yet, these robots fail to translate to many other areas of endeavour. That is because they have been designed to work in the absence of humans. There is a rigid division between their workspace and the areas where humans roam. All this is changing. Increasingly we want robots that can interact with humans. That means they must recognise humans, understand their goals and emotions and signal back their own goals and intended actions. The coming years are going to be very exciting in the field of robotics.
